The German also helped The Reds achieve continental success when they lifted the UEFA Champions League in the 2018-2019 season.

Last year, England’s Emma Raducanu shocked the world to win the US Open title. She became the first singles qualifier in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam title. It was only her second appearance at a Grand Slam. The British No. 1 holds the record for the fewest majors played prior to winning a title. She defeated Leylah Fernandez in the final.

Jurgen Klopp had lauded the incredible effort from Raducanu during a press conference. He said: “Women’s tennis is obviously in a brilliant moment. These two girls were 18 and 19 and what they showed was massively impressive.”

He was also “overwhelmed” by how they spoke during the trophy ceremony. Klopp had also said that after Raducanu’s scintillating performance, he would surely watch much more of women’s tennis.

However, some fans expected her to have field days in the following competitions but they forgot that tennis is no cakewalk. The 19-year-old has been going through a rough patch since her win at Flushing Meadows last year.

The talented youngster has not won any other title post the victorious US Open campaign. In the three Grand Slams that followed, Raducanu has failed to make it beyond the second round. However, she has shown enough spark and there is no lack of talent. She would be determined to get back into the groove at where it all started. The last Grand Slam of the year will begin on August 29.
