Samoa Joe is a former NXT Champion. Let us know about his release from WWE, which happened two times in a year
Samoa Joe was working basically in a backstage capacity at NXT as a scout following his brief return to the ring, seeing him capture the NXT title for the third time.
On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, WWE released many big names from NXT, including Samoa Joe, William Regal, Road Dogg, and others. Strangely for Joe, he was released twitch in less than a year from the company.
Joe was previously let go from the WWE during a round of cuts in April 2021, but soon after being fired, he was brought back by Triple H for a position in NXT. After returning, he defeated Karrion Kross at TakeOver 36 to win the NXT Championship.
Since winning the championship, he never had another match for WWE, and it was announced in September 2021 that Joe had relinquished from the title due to undisclosed injuries and was told that he would be out for an undetermined amount of time. He is a three-time NXT Champion and has been a star performer for TNA, WWE and Ring of Honor.
Samoa Joe was released along with some of the more prominent names from WWE
Just one year after ‘Black Wednesday,’ WWE has made a slew of releases once again. Yesterday the company announced the release of several superstars from its ranks, including the iconic Samoa Joe. In addition, a brilliant duo of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, former women’s and divas champion Mickie James were among some top women’s superstars who were released.
The statement from WWE read this:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of Samoa Joe, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake. We wish them all the best in all of their future endeavours.”
