Daniel Cormier has teased a familiar rival as his next UFC fight
Daniel Cormier is one of the greatest UFC stars and has won the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight titles in the past.
The American has had his ups and downs during his time in the UFC, but there is no doubting his ability in the Octagon.
Cormier has been involved in the world of MMA since 2009 and made his UFC debut in 2013.
When did Daniel Cormier last fight?
The 41-year-old last fought a few months back at UFC 241 where he lost to rival Stipe Miocic.
Cormier also lost the UFC Heavyweight title to the American and hasn’t been in action since 17 August 2019.
This was his second clash against Miocic and the rivalry is 1-1. The fight prior to that was against Derrick Lewis for the UFC Heavyweight title, which Cormier won.
Miocic won via TKO at UFC 241, but there is more to come from the rivalry.
When does Daniel Cormier fight next?
DC has spoken several times that he isn’t looking for too many fights given his age and accomplishments.
He has spoken to Ariel Helwani and confirmed that he wants one more fight against Miocic. Cormier added that he wasn’t interested in taking on anyone else in the UFC.
That could not be done sooner as Miocic had to undergo eye surgery due to injuries sustained at UFC 241. Cormier has been accused of poking Miocic in their first fight too and he did that too in the second meeting.
Miocic has also said he would want to fight Cormier for a third time too, but the coronavirus pandemic has caused havoc with the UFC’s plans.
Dana White has confirmed that UFC 249 will take place on 18 April but nothing else is known about the other fights.
UFC cancelled a few events after UFC Brasil and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
Cormier vs Miocic 3 will be one of the biggest fights in the history of the UFC, and hopefully, we get to see it sooner rather than later.
