Which are the top 5 movies John Cena has appeared in?

John Cena is one of the biggest WWE stars but has featured in several big movies over the years

WWE star John Cena isn’t a regular in the ring these days, and for good measure. The former champion has put several years of hard work in building his character and is now a movie star too.

Cena, like The Rock, has come on a few TV shows (most of them being WWE-based). However, the Leader of the Cenation has also featured in several big movies over the years.

Now, some of these movies have been WWE productions while others have seen Cena play a cameo.

The 42-year-old has a long list of movie appearances under his belt, but here are the top five movies Cena has featured in.

The movies selected on the list depend on the size of the cast and also the box office collections, but they follow no set order.

1) The Marine (2006)

WWE doesn’t have a great track record of producing great movies, and The Marine might not match up to some of the content from top houses.

However, the movie is considered a classic thanks to John Cena. The WWE star made his big-screen debut with this movie and it made close to $23million due to box office revenues.

The movie isn’t something to cheer about, but it paved the way for Cena to become a movie star.

2) Daddy’s Home 2 (2017)

Cena got a cameo appearance in the first move that starred Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. However, the WWE star got a lot more screen time in the sequel which came out in 2017.

This move too didn’t get too many great reviews, despite Ferrell starring in it. However, it did feature Cena playing a tough biker guy and the movie made $180million.

3) Bumblebee (2018)

The Transformers series got a reboot and a prequel in 2018 with the release of Bumblebee. This was to concentrate on the story of the bright yellow car and it features Cena in the role of a former US Army Colonel.

There have been chatter about John Cena’s past in the military, however, this move was one of the top flicks from 2018.

Bumblebee was lauded by critics and despite earning lower than the other movies ($468million), it is considered as one of the best movies from the series.

4) Dolittle (2020)

Dolittle is a reboot of the original and frankly cult classic Dr Dolittle which featured Eddie Murphy. This time, the titular character was portrayed by Robert Downey Jr, and it featured a ton of top actors providing the voices for the animals.

Dolittle can speak to these animals and Cena was featured as a polar bear in the flick. The movie also featured Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, Marion Cotillard and Rami Malek to name a few.

Dolittle earned $227m but it was considered as a huge flop despite the incredible star cast.

5) Ferdinand (2017)

Although Cena did not act in this movie, Ferdinand could be his most successful movie venture yet. The story is about a bull that doesn’t want to get into bullfighting, despite all his other bull friends wanting him to do so.

Cena was again voicing an animal, this time, the titular character Ferdinand, and the movie earned $296m.

However, the movie and its music were nominated for several awards.
