The world came to a standstill with the onset of the pandemic owing to the Coronavirus – the tennis world also took a hit as ongoing tournaments were abandoned, and upcoming ones were indefinitely postponed.
After the first wave, sports returned with new rules related to the safety of the players and the people involved to make the events successful. Terms like closed-door matches and bio-bubble were used more than ever before.
Tennis also followed the new normal and we got to see our favorite stars back on the court. Let’s take a look at the male players who have won the most matches since tennis resumed after the pandemic eased up considerably.
From August 2020 onwards, Daniil Medvedev has won the most number of matches – 120. He won the 2021 US Open and later managed to grab the No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings. The Russian star is currently at the No. 4 position as Carlos Alcaraz grabbed the top spot following his triumph at this year’s US Open.
Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are joint-second with 119 wins each since the pandemic. The world No. 2 Casper Ruud is fourth on the list with 113 wins. Alexander Zverev rounds up the top 5 with 110 wins. The legendary Novak Djokovic has not been able to play in quite a few tournaments due to his unvaccinated status. The Serbian star has managed to win 101 matches and is at No. 8 on the list. Fellow legend, Rafael Nadal, has won two Grand Slam titles since the pandemic and is at No. 15 with 74 wins. The Spaniard has missed many tournaments as he has struggled with quite a few injuries as of late.
Which tennis star has the highest win percentage since the pandemic?
We have just seen that 26-year-old Daniil Medvedev has managed to win the most number of matches since the pandemic. However, there is another important aspect that we need to check and it is the win percentages. The win percentages will give us a better idea of who has been more clinical since the pandemic.
Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic has the highest win percentage of 85.6. Rafael Nadal is in the second position with a win percentage of 84.4.
Medvedev is in the third position with a win percentage of 78.9 while Alexander Zverev is fourth with 78%. The 19-year-old Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz is in the No. 5 position with 75.7%.
