The 1000 lb sisters is an American popular reality television series that focuses on the personal lives of two sisters Amy Slaton-Halterman and Tammy Slaton who stays in Dixon, Kentucky.
This show depicts their daily lives along with their attempts at weight loss and weight loss surgery. the sisters featured in the series have a combined weight that exceeds 1,000 pounds at the start of the show.
Other than Amy and Tammy, other family members of the show include Amy’s husband Michael Halterman, and their dog “Little Bit”. The show also includes other members of the Slaton family, such as Chris, Misty, Amanda, etc.
Amy and Tammy’s brother, has also decided to lose weight on the series and continues to do so alongside both his sisters The show has also featured Amy and Michael’s son Gage Deon Halterman.
This show premiered first time on January 1, 2020, and was completed in 3 seasons by 2022. According to TLC’s announcement the series focuses on 406lb Amy.

Amy started a Youtube channel in 2011 and thanks to this the sisters became famous even before the series. the pair posted videos including vlogs, beauty hauls, and make-up tutorials — but it was one challenging video in particular that initially made them go viral.

The title of the show depicts that the sisters might weigh 1000lbs each however that’s not the case. At the start of season 1, Amy weighed 400lb and Tammy weighed 600lb. This is where the title of the show came from.
The first season of 1000lb sisters was followed by Amy and Tammy’s journey to lose weight through bariatric surgery. Amy hit her weight loss goal and was able to undergo the surgery.
However, for Tammy she did not qualify, and this made some fans criticize her for “toxic behavior” and her tendency to blame others for her issues.
Amy admitted that the hardest part of their weight loss journey was giving up sugary drinks or “studies” as the sisters call them. Tammy even stated that they used to drink twelve sodas a day. They added that as kids their mom told them if they ate sugar and drink diet coke afterward it will cancel out.
The main feature of season 1 was Amy’s desire to lose weight to have a family. She recently got married but struggled to have a child mainly because of her weight and subsequent health issues…
However, all this changed as Amy and her husband Michael Halterman managed to conceive. However, Amy had to have a C-section to deliver the baby successfully. They welcomed a healthy boy Gage Halterman in November 2020.
