The Voice is an American reality show on singing which is getting broadcasted on NBC. People can perform solo or duet depending on their convenience. It is one of the popular television programs around the globe and people above the age of 13 can participate in it.

About The Voice

The Voice is an American reality singing competition aired on NBC since April 26, 2011. It is part of The Voice franchise and has completed 23 seasons so far. The show aims to discover talented unsigned singers aged 13 and above through public auditions. Viewers participate in determining the winner through phone, internet, SMS, and iTunes Store voting.

The champion receives a $100,000 cash prize and a record deal with Universal Music Group. The show features a panel of four coaches who provide feedback and mentor their chosen artists. The current season’s coaches include Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Chance the Rapper.

In December 2010, NBC debuted the American version of the well-liked Dutch programme The Voice of Holland. To prevent confusion with a US news and radio broadcaster, the organization’s original name, The Voice of America, was eventually abbreviated to The Voice.

The American edition omits the name of the nation, in contrast to other editions. Each season’s victor wins $100,000 as well as a record deal with either Universal Music Group (seasons three and up) or Universal Republic Records (seasons one and two). Coaches choose performers at the “Blind Auditions” and guide them throughout the season according to the show’s structure. The “Battle Rounds” feature matched performances and coach choices, occasionally with assistance from famous advisers.

The Knockout Rounds, introduced in season three (except for seasons six and sixteen), feature pairs of artists within a team who sing individual performances consecutively. They choose their own songs with guidance from coaches and celebrity advisors.

Coaches decide which artist advances, with the option to steal eliminated artists. Season six introduced “Battles, Round 2” as a replacement, with similar pairings and song selection. Season sixteen had The Live Cross Battles, similar to the Chinese version. Previously eliminated artists can compete in live shows, and public voting determines the winner.

NBC and Universal Republic Records allowed fans of the music competition series to vote for their favourite artists by buying their studio versions of songs performed on the live show from iTunes. Other voting methods included toll-free phone calls, text messaging, the NBC app, and online voting. Each user could vote up to ten times, and voting ended at noon EST the following day. From season 3 to 17, iTunes purchases counted as votes, with a bonus for songs in the Top 10 of the iTunes chart. In season 5, the bonus was reduced to five for studio versions of songs.
