The UFC is known for some hard hits and crazy finishes to their fights. Some clashes have gone on for the entire five rounds, but there is nothing better that a knockout.
Punches, kicks, elbows and more have worked to great effect for some of the top fighters in the world, but coming out of the blocks on fire is something different.
There have been several records of fast knockouts in the UFC, but Jorge Masvidal is the king with regards to this.
The 35-year-old American was up against Ben Askren at UFC 239 and recorded the fastest knockout in UFC history.
Masvidal vs Askren was brewing long before the fight as both have done a lot of trash talking.
However, all that talking went down the drain in the first round itself. Masvidal came charging out and connected with the knee.
He hit Askren on the head and the challenger went down in a heap. Masvidal got a couple of punches in before the referee quickly stopped the match.
The official time came out to be five seconds and it is an incredible knockout nonetheless.
Masvidal took the gloating to another level as he mocked his opponent too. That was in bad taste, especially when Askren could have been seriously hurt with the knee to the head.
The 35-year-old Masvidal has a record of 35 wins and 13 losses in the UFC. He also won his only bout in professional boxing which came in 2005.
Askren retired from MMA in November 2019 and had a record of 19 wins and two losses. His defeats came in the last two bouts of his career, but he won several titles in other rival promotions too.
