Let us check out Coachella 2023 and more about its present and past.
Coachella was organised in 1999 by Rick Van Santen and Paul Tollett. The first festival took place over two days and mostly included rock and alternative performers like Beck, Tool, and Rage Against the Machine. Even though just 25,000 people showed up, the festival was nonetheless deemed a success.
Coachella initially expanded to three days in 2007, but in 2012 they added a second weekend due to the rising demand for tickets. Hip-hop, electronic dance music, and indie rock are just a few of the musical genres now represented on the festival’s lineup.
In addition to its music, Coachella has gained a reputation for its fashion and art. The festival showcases the work of international artists, as well as large-scale art installations, interactive exhibits, and sculpture gardens. With festival-goers sporting bohemian-inspired attire, Coachella has also become a showcase for fashion.
Coachella 2023 took place over two weekends, from April 14–16 and April 21–23, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The festival has been held at this location since its inception, and its expansive desert setting was once again the ideal backdrop for the event.
Blink-182’s first performance at Coachella in a number of years was one of the most eagerly awaited ones of the festival. The American rock group previously performed at the event in 2013 and 2017. They are known for classics including “All the Small Things” and “What’s My Age Again?” Fans enjoyed their enthusiastic performance on the main stage, where they played both older hits and brand-new tunes.
Billie Eilish, who has quickly risen to prominence as one of the biggest names in pop music, was another act that was eagerly anticipated. A spectacular set by the young singer-songwriter, who is renowned for her distinctive voice and manner, featured many of her well-known songs, including “Bad Guy” and “Ocean Eyes.” One of the festival’s highlights was the appearance of Tyler, the Creator, a well-known musician who brought his distinctive fusion of rap and hip hop to the stage.
Other prominent performers included Dua Lipa, a British pop sensation who has recently attracted attention on a global scale, and Lizzo, a dynamic pop singer recognised for her catchy beats and empowering lyrics. One of the most well-known rappers in the world, Post Malone, also performed, and his set was well-liked by the audience.
Additionally, there were rumours in the run-up to the festival that Daft Punk might make an appearance, but sadly, they decided not participate. However, Coachella 2023 still included a tonne of electronic performers, with a variety of stages and tents hosting upcoming DJs and producers.
Aside from the music, Coachella is also well-known for its magnificent art installations and other attractions. Coachella 2023 did not disappoint in this regard, featuring a range of installations and experiences for festival-goers to enjoy. Previous years’ events had included interactive art pieces and installations, a Ferris wheel, and a pop-up record store.
To attend Coachella, guests had to book lodging in Indio. Camping on the event grounds was one option, as was reserving a hotel room or vacation home nearby. To ensure availability and the most affordable rates, it was advised that people book their lodging early.
Following the COVID-19 epidemic, Coachella put in place a number of health and safety measures to protect visitors. These protocols required volunteers to be immunised and involved the use of masks and other social isolation techniques. These requirements were put in place to stop the virus from spreading and make sure the event went off without a hitch because the festival has in the past drawn tourists from all over the world.
