Azad Talukder, a Limerick-based councillor, has been under the spotlight because of his remarks that he has made towards various stabbing attacks and riots, and he stated that he made those remarks as an expression of his emotions towards the people who were the perpetrators of crime and not the people who were rioters.

Azad Talukder was reported to be saying that the rioters in Dublin should be shot in the head. However, later on, he spoke to the Irish Independent and stated how he did not want the rioters, but the ones who were committing crimes and abusing the children, to be shot in the head for committing such heinous crimes.

There were a lot of complaints raised against his reputation, and he withdrew his statements immediately. There was a pushback from Jack Chambers, who is the Minister of Safety, towards Azad Talukder’s statements.

He made a statement in response to his statements and highlighted that the way his statement was elucidated in the newspaper stated that he was the one who was making remarks towards children, but it was misinterpreted, and he stated that a person who can stab five-year-old kids should be punished publicly.
