We take a look at the career, early life, and education of the latest new addition into the ESPN’s UFC broadcast team, Charly Arnolt
Charly Arnolt was the roving reporter at UFC on ESPN 39 this weekend, headlined by Rafael Dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev. The latest entrant into ESPN’s UFC broadcast team, Arnolt is an American sports broadcaster and television personality for ESPN. She is most popularly recognized for her splendid work as a sportscaster and ring announcer with WWE from 2016 to 2021, where she appeared under the ring name Charly Caruso. Arnolt is also a backup host and moderator on the popular ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim.
Charly Arnolt was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and developed a deep love for sports in her early years. She began playing softball, volleyball, and gymnastics. Arnolt had hopes and aspirations of being an Olympics gymnast, but she had to let go from the sport due to injuries.
Arnold graduated summa cum laude from American University with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2010. She previously attended North Central High School.
Her early career in journalism began in 2010, when she joined WSAZ-TV as a reporter in Huntington, West Virginia. She later moved back to Indianapolis to work as a freelance reporter for WXIN “Fox 59”. She moved to WDAF-TV “Fox 4” in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2011, where she worked for about two years. In 2014, she returned to WXIN to become a sports reporter and anchor.
Charly Arnolt joined the WWE broadcasting team in May 2016 but the journey wasn’t a cakewalk. Although she impressed commentator Michael Cole in their first meeting, she didn’t make it owing to a lack of openings. It wasn’t until Brandi Rhodes left the organization to join AEW that Arnolt would finally get her shot in 2016.
After making a successful career in WWE, interviewing wrestlers and hosting various events for the organization, the 34-year-old would eventually move to ESPN. She mainly presents updates on SportsCenter and also hosts the SportsCenter show on Snapchat.
Charly Arnolt reacts to Alexander Volkanovski’s impressive performance at UFC 276
Alexander Volkanovski absolutely bulldozered, dismantled and razed Holloways’ challenge to the ground at UFC 276. The champion looked like a much improved, and refined fighter from the get-go. His accuracy, power, defense, and precision stifled the Hawaiian. A bruised, battered, and bloodied Holloway showed the heart and grit of a warrior, and lasted 25 minutes yet again.
In the second round, Volkanovski dug open a big cut right above the left eye of Holloway with an overhand straight. The cut impaired Max’s vision, but he struggled to get his flow and rhythm owing to the massive deep cut. The remaining three rounds played out in similar fashion as the Aussie kept handing out big punishments to Max, damaging the right side of his face as well.
In the end he scored a unanimous 50-45 victory. He immediately grabbed the mic to issue a challenge to the lightweight division and Charles Oliveira.
Reacting to the impressive victory on Twitter, Charly Arnolt wrote, ”Another decision win for Volk. 3-0 over Holloway. Class is adjourned. #UFC276”
