Daniil Medvedev has not yet won a Grand Slam title but came close, finishing runner-up in last year’s US Open
Daniil Medvedev is a 23-year-old Russian tennis player touted to be one of the next big stars of the game.
He has already been tagged as a ‘Next Gen’ star alongside Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas. Medvedev, who is known for his unorthodox style of playing, is blessed with a strange-looking but effective forehand which makes him a formidable player for his rivals.
Currently ranked 5th, Medvedev gained a career-best ranking of 4, back in September 2019. He had a breakthrough season last year as he reached the finals of six consecutive tournaments, including the US Open, and has grown in stature, especially in recent times.
Medvedev turned professional in 2014 and now has an estimated net worth of $3million, which he has mostly accumulated through his recent wins. However, with the potential that he possesses, the numbers are expected to increase soon.
Medvedev’s racquets are sponsored by global sports equipment brand Tecnifibre. Also, soon after his splendid show in the 2019 US Open, he was made the brand ambassador of luxury car brand, BMW. Swiss watch brand, Bovet, started a new partnership with Daniil in August 2019. In March 2019, Medvedev left his former sportswear brand Lotto to join hands with Lacoste.
At such a young age he has already won 4 ATP titles and was the US Open runner-up last year due to which he had a sudden increase in his prize money. At the moment he has earned a total career prize money of $10,984,788.
Despite being young, Medvedev married his long-time girlfriend Daria on September 12, 2018, in Moscow, Russia. Medvedev has acknowledged his wife for being the reason behind his improved performance in recent times, which has seen him attain a quick rise in the rankings. The couple currently stays in Antibes, France, where Medvedev trains.
