Joseph Parks AKA Abyss made a surprising WWE appearance on SmackDown
WWE SmackDown had one surprise as Joseph Parks AKA Abyss was seen on TV alongside AJ Styles.
Parks was wearing a suit and took up the role of being Styles’ statistician. The 46-year-old didn’t speak much but he stole the show with his facial expressions and mannerisms.
Parks also was in the ring while Jeff Hardy attacked Styles. However, this wasn’t his first wrestling rodeo as the 46-year-old is one of the most experienced wrestlers on the roster.
While Parks was seen for the first time on WWE, he has a rich history of competing on TNA.
The 46-year-old has gone by a lot of names during his wrestling career, but he will be remembered for his time with TNA.
Abyss can be considered as one of the TNA originals and he won the Tag title, World Heavyweight title, X Division title and a lot more during his time with the promotion.
His time with Styles goes back during these days too. Parks won the NWA World Tag Team title with Styles as his partner.
He is a TNA Triple crown and Grand Slam champion and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018. The 46-year-old also won several titles during his days with other promotions too, and he brought out the Joseph Parks character as a brother to Abyss.
Abyss had some of the most gruesome matches also during his wrestling days, and it was a throwback moment seeing him with Styles on SmackDown.
Parks started off his career with TNA in 2002 and was with the promotion till 2018. However, his career began with the NWF promotion in 1995 and also fought wrestling legend, Jerry Lynn, during his early days.
He also won the NWA Wildside tag title with Styles before his TNA days. Abyss fought in other promotions such as ROH after his release from TNA. However, he did perform on other circuits during his TNA days too.
The 46-year-old was signed as a producer by WWE in 2019 and this was his first appearance on SmackDown, which will be memorable for many.
It will be interesting to see what WWE does with Parks. Even if he doesn’t wrestle and continues his statistician role, that would be incredible.
The 46-year-old can be exceptional even in this role and hopefully, we get to see more of Parks.
