Kyle Edmund is a former top-20 British tennis professional who reached the semifinals of the 2018 Australian Open
Kyle Edmund is a 25-year-old British professional tennis player known for his powerful forehands and high serves.
He hogged the limelight back in 2018 when he reached the semifinals of the Australian Open.
Edmund is also the sixth British man to feature in a Major singles semifinal in the Open Era.
Edmund has had a better time in national competitions when representing his nation. He won the Davis Cup in 2015 and the Laver Cup in 2018.
The 25-year-old hasn’t been able to repeat his performance from the Australian Open in 2018. He has not been able to go past the third round in every Grand Slam since that.
He exited the 2020 Australian Open in the first round, after losing to Dusan Lajovic in straight sets.
Currently ranked 62nd, Edmund had reached a career-best ranking of 14 in October 2018 after his Australian Open exploits. Also, he was the only top-ranked male British player from March 2018 to October 2019.
However, unlike 2018 which was his breakthrough year, 2019 was a season to forget for the British professional which saw his rankings slip beneath the top-50.
Kyle Edmund has a net worth estimated to be around US$1.5 million, most of which he has earned through his winnings from the game.
Edmund’s racquets are sponsored by American sports equipment company Wilson and he was the ambassador for David Llyod Clubs until the end of 2018.
The star is an ambassador for British Airways and automobile manufacturing company Jaguar also. Meanwhile, Nike have been sponsoring Edmund’s apparel and accessories since 2012.
He has won only one ATP title till now and his best-ever performance came at the Australian Open in 2018. So far, the South-Africa born British man has amassed a total of US$5 million as his prize money.
That should continue to grow as he keeps participating in other events and winning gamestoo.
Edmund seems to be more focused on his career and is unwilling to strike a relationship at least for now. “I have been told they are trouble,” explained Edmund sometime ago about having girlfriends.
