Who is new WWE wrestler Ben Carter?
WWE announced on Friday that they have signed internationally famous indie wrestler Ben Carter to the NXT UK brand.
Several promotions were fighting for the 22-year-old Carter’s signature. This included All Elite Wrestling (AEW) where Carter had already made appearances.
He grabbed headlines when he fought Lee Johnson at AEW Dark, and even had the chance to appear on Dynamite.
But when WWE come calling, it is hard for any up-and-coming wrestler to refuse them. This was also the case with the United Kingdom native Carter.
AEW’s Miro was the first to announce in October that AEW had ‘lost’ the talent, and NXT UK confirmed Carter’s signing in the early hours of Friday.
The 22-year-old UK native began wrestling in 2018 and was even trained by WWE superstar Seth Rollins. He trained under Rollins and Marek Brave at the “Black and Brave Academy” in the United States.
‘The Prodigy of Pro Wrestling’ is one of the most hyped indie wrestler, and WWE signing him is an excellent decision. It can even double up as a little payback for AEW signing some of WWE’s former superstars.
The talent has been closely followed by Triple H and William Regal of the NXT brand and has certainly warranted their attention after impressing heavily in the handful of matches that he has had so far.
Ben Carter has the backing of WWE superstar Seth Rollins
In a heartfelt congratulatory message for Carter, Seth Rollins said that the sky is the limit for the young wrestler. He even compared him to Dynamite Kid and Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero when it comes to the fighting style.
Rollins praised his inquisitive nature inside the ring and said that he feels Carter “has the ingredients to make it to the top”.
“He is living that dream right now because of how dedicated he is. To me, the sky’s the limit for Ben Carter, it truly is. He’s one of the most athletically gifted performer I’ve ever seen.”
William Regal, The General Manager of NXT UK, also said that Carter had his attention from the moment he knew he was trained by Seth Rollins.
“If I hear anybody has been trained by Seth Rollins, I’m interested. Because Seth Rollins is as good as it gets.”
As of now, it seems like Ben Carter has taken the right decision to ignore the interest form AEW and Impact Wrestling to sign for WWE. NXT UK has a talented roster and has already produced stars such as Walter, Toni Storm, and Rhea Rhipley.
He is now at a brand that recognizes his value and has the tools at their disposal to launch the 22-year-old to international success.
As of now, it is unclear when he will make his official NXT debut, but we will keep you posted on that.
