Nick and Aaron Carter are best known as singer-songwriters from the 2000s. Nick rose to fame in 1996 as one of the five members of the Backstreet Boys. As the band’s success grew, Nick invited his younger brother to serve as the opening act during their 1997 tour. However, years after their rise to fame as well as Aaron’s untimely death last year, they are in the news.
Jane Schneck, the mother of Nick Carter and the late Aaron Carter, was arrested following a late-night dispute Friday in her Florida home over excessively loud TV volume. Schneck, 64, was arrested and booked on one count of domestic battery after a disagreement that began when she was playing music loudly on the TV, according to Denise Moloney, public information officer for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
“Jane was playing the music too loud on the television and the other party wanted to go to sleep, causing the dispute, which escalated to physical,” Moloney told. When the other party began taking a video of Schneck, she grabbed the person’s wrist and arms. The unnamed person turned that video over to deputies, who then arrested Schneck for domestic battery.
No one was injured in the dispute, and Moloney noted both parties had been consuming alcohol. Schneck was released on a $100 bond pending a court appearance, which has not been set. However, Schneck isn’t the only one in the family currently facing legal charges.
Besides his mother, former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is facing legal issues of his own.
In a complaint filed April 11 in Los Angeles, singer Melissa Schuman, formerly of pop girl group Dream, accuses Carter, 43, of sexually assaulting her in 2003. Schuman, 38, alleges that Carter, 43, used “his role, status and power as a well-known singer to gain access to, groom, manipulate, exploit and sexually assault,” according to the lawsuit.
Carter’s attorney Liane K. Wakayama told in an emailed statement that Schuman’s suit is a “PR stunt.”
