Former World No.1 Roger Federer is 35-years old and still going strong with a record-20 Grand Slam titles to his credit

With a record-20 Grand Slam titles to his name, Roger Federer is a living legend of the game.

A maker and breaker of records, Swiss maestro, Federer has also held on to the world No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings for a record total of 310 weeks (including a record 237 consecutive weeks). He comes alive at a particular Grand Slam and has a record-eight Wimbledon singles titles.

Among his many other records, Federer is also the only player after Jimmy Connors to have won more than 100 career titles. To date the 35-year-old has bagged a whopping 103 titles.

An extremely popular figure among fans and followers Federer has also claimed an Olympics gold in doubles (2008) and silver in singles at the 2012 London Olympics. Federer added another feather to his golden crown by winning the 2014 Davis Cup.

A former World No.1 as per ATP rankings, Federer has currently dropped down to fourth after suffering an injury recently. He has ended the year as the top-ranked player five times of which four have happened in a row.

Swiss international Federer has also managed to remain in the top-ten ATP tennis rankings since October 2002 to November 2016.

Federer’s career achievements are merely innumerable, with the Swiss maestro still being one of the dominant stars in tennis since turning professional in 1998. He has a whopping 103 ATP titles that includes record 20 Grand Slams, 28 ATP Masters 1000 titles, and a record 6 ATP Finals.

The 38-year-old is also the winner of an Olympics gold medal. He won the gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics along with countrymate Stan Wawrinka in doubles. He also added a silver medal to his collection, after emerging runner-up at the 2012 London Olympics final.

Also, representing Switzerland, Federer has won the 2014 Davis Cup and has a record three Hopman Cup titles (2001, 2018 and 2019). He has also bagged three consecutive Laver Cup titles – 2017, 2018 and 2019 editions respectively with Team Europe.

He has often been in the top-list of the highest-paid athletes’ on the planet, according to Forbes. Federer has numerous sponsorship deals with Japanese clothing company Uniqlo, Swiss companies such as Nationale Suisse, Credit Suisse, watchmakers Rolex, Lindt, Sunrise, and Jura Elektroapparate.

Roger Federer’s Uniqlo deal is considered one of the most lucrative deals in recent times with a sum worth around US$ 300 million. In 2010, his endorsement with Mercedes Benz China was extended into a global partnership deal.

Federer has also appeared in advertisements promoting coffee machines for Jura – a Swiss home appliances company. The long-term deal with Jura has been going on since both signed a partnership back in 2006.

Other than these, Roger Federer also has made deals with tennis manufacturers Wilson, Gillette, Barilla, Rimowa and Moët, and Chandon. In the past, Federer has partnered with Nike, Emmi AG, and Maurice Lacroix among others.

Since turning professional back in 1998, Federer has won an estimated prize money of around US$ 129,946,683. However, this has not been a highly successful year for the Swiss after his season was cut short due to an injury which he sustained sometime back.

His overall prize money thus puts him second on the all-time list of prize money winners behind World No.1 Novak Djokovic. However, it should be noted that in the early years of Federer’s career the prize money was not as glittery as it is these days.

Federer married the love of his life Mirka, whom he first met at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where they were both competing for their country Switzerland.

The pair decided to tie the knot at Wenkenhof Villa in Basel, Federer’s hometown, in April 2009. The two didn’t opt for a lavish affair, instead, they chose an intimate ceremony, inviting only close family and friends.

Mirka Federer, Roger’s wife, recently made the headlines last year at the Wimbledon when her one-of-a-kind diamond engagement ring designed by Brazilian jeweller H. Stern. Caught the attention of the public and media. Also, the Federer’s are parents to twin girls Charlene and Myla – born in 2009 – and twin boys Lenny and Leo, who arrived in 2014.

Though he is from Switzerland, Federer owns a few houses and also has an apartment in Dubai, UAE.

Federer had bought a house back in 2008 in the Swiss village of Valbella the region of Lenzerheide-Valbella ski area. It’s a Swiss-style Modern Chalet and has a tennis court in its periphery. The Swiss Alps could be seen perfectly from this residence where Federer used to live until 2015.

Presently Federer resides with his family in a US$ 6.5 million worth house in the south of Zurich. To be more precise, he owns a lakeside view penthouse in Wollerau. The property is situated on the southeast shores of Lake Zurich.

Federer also has a lavish apartment in Dubai where the tennis great does his training when it starts freezing in Switzerland. Federer bought this property back in 2014. It is located in the luxury 50-story “Le Rêve” skyscraper – a five-room apartment with more than 200 square meters of living space.
