Czech tennis star Marketa Vondrousova is just 24 but she has been married for close to a year now. Vondrousova tied the knot with her long-time partner Stephan Simek in 2022. She was engaged to Simek in 2021, when she won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics and eventually got married a year later. Her husband, Simek is a professional tennis player as well and is a regular feature on the ITF circuit.

Vondrousova and enjoyed an outdoor wedding in July last year. The venue was Chateau Mcely—a resort hotel outside the Czech capital city of Prague. The ceremony was attended by close friends and family members of the couple. They took commemorative photos on a well-manicured tennis court and shared the pictures with fans and followers on social media. Vondrousova and Simek will celebrate their one-year anniversary in a week’s time.

Stephan Simek is a professional Tennis player, who has represented the Czech Republic at the international level. The 26-year-old is primarily active on the ITF Circuit and hasn’t been able to make it to the ATP tour yet. Simek has a 67% win rate at the ITF level but he lacks the consistency to break into the elite level any time soon. However, he has age on his side and it remains to be seen if he can make it to the ATP tour in the near future.

Meanwhile, Vondrousova is a much more established player despite being two years younger than Simek. Vondrousova made her WTA debut in 2015 and has been active on the elite stage for close to a decade now. She achieved her career-best ranking of No.14 in women’s singles in 2019 and has won one WTA title till date. She is doing really well in doubles too and is currently ranked No.48 – her highest ever doubles ranking.

She notably won a silver medal for the Czech Republic at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Vondrousova is known as one of the best returners on the WTA Tour and certainly has the potential to break into the Top 10 of the rankings in the near future.
