UFC fighter Irwin Rivera was arrested on Thursday for attempted murder
In one of the most disturbing news you could have expected, UFC fighter Irwin Rivera has been charged with the attempted murder of his two sisters.
A report by ESPN mentions that the bantamweight fighter is held by the Boynton Beach Police Department without bail as per online jail records.
The Police department found a 22-year-old and a 33-year-old women in a residence with multiple stab wounds. Thankfully, both of them were alive at the time and were taken to a hospital.
One of the sisters told the Police that she woke up to Rivera stabbing her at night. The two were staying with the 31-year-old in a spare room in his place.
After being apprehended by the police on Thursday, Irwin admitted to killing his sisters. According to the report, he said: “I killed my sisters”; and, he did it with a “brass knuckle knife”.
In the report, Rivera told the police that he believed he killed them because it was his purpose, and he was told to do so by a higher power.
Irvin Rivera’s MMA record is 10-6-0 and his UFC record is 1-2-0. He most recently fought on September 19, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 178, where he lost to Andrew Ewell via split decision.
Rivera made his UFC debut in May 2020 against Giga Chikadze at UFC Fight Night 172 in a featherweight bout. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
He was scheduled to fight Ray Rodriguez on 13th March, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 187. However, this incident casts a shadow of doubt over the event. In fact, UFC informed his management that he will not be getting any bouts right now.
