Shane Thorne is one of the rising stars on WWE at the moment
WWE seem to have a couple of brilliant Australian stars on their hands with Shane Thorne and Brendan Vink picking up a huge victory on Raw.
The pair were under the tutelage of MVP from last week and it seemed to work for them. They were up against the high-flying pair of Cedric Alexander and Ricochet and pulled off an upset to pick up the win.
However, neither of the Aussie pair is a new face in wrestling with both of them having a ton of experience.
Shane Veryzer is now called as Shane Thorne in the WWE ring. The 34-year-old Aussie was born in Perth and wrestled a lot in his home country.
Thorne debuted in the Explosive Pro Wrestling promotion in 2003 and became the EPW Heavyweight Champion in the process.
The Aussie is considered as one of the top talents from the country and his stock grew Down Under. Thorne moved to the US later and got chances in several promotions such as Ohio Valley Wrestling, World League Wrestling and even Ring of Honor.
Thorne won a couple of tag titles at Pro Wrestling Noah too and left the company in 2015. The Aussie also teamed up with Mikey Nicholls during his time at Noah, and the pair moved to New Japan Pro Wrestling for a year.
While Vink has only signed for the WWE in the past year or so, Thorne has been in the promotion for a while.
Nicholls and Haste tried out for a WWE camp in 2015 and they signed up for the promotion in 2016.
Thorne and his partner were repackaged (Nicholls was renamed as Nick Miller) and the pair were called TM61.
The pair reached the final of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic only to lose to the Authors of Pain. Thorne also missed a few months of wrestling with a knee injury. In 2018, TM61 went the heel route as they defeated Otis and Tucker, and later, The Street Profits.
However, the new name for the team was The Mighty but that didn’t last long. Miller was released from WWE in December 2018 and Thorne started participating in singles matches.
Thorne has been provided with a new lease on life in WWE after teaming up with Vink. With MVP by their side, the pair should have more time on Raw for now.
Vink and Thorne have a history of working in the past during their indie days. And it seems that will help them in the coming months on Raw.
