WWE filed to trademark the new “Gunther Stark” ring name with the USPTO for entertainment services to one of the top NXT stars and longest reigning WWE NXT UK Champion WALTER.
According to Uboat.net, Gunther Stark was one of the Kriegsmarine’s famous Olympia Crew. The Olympic rings was their symbol.
No other crew had more U-Boat commanders than the Olympia Crew. They had 164 who graduated and 140 who took command during the war.
Stark was basically the captain lieutenant serving the navy for Nazi Germany during World War II. He died on June 8, 1944.
The trademark was filed for the following purposes: “C 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered life and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
NXT 2.0 star WALTER has been given the name of “Gunther Stark”
WALTER faced off against Roderick Strong in the main event of this week’s NXT 2.0. The former interrupted the ring announcer and declared that the winner of the match was “Gunther”.
WWE has faced a lot of backlash since the name change, and many fans and critics of the wrestling community have criticized the company for using this name.
