According to Mirror, Manchester United are all set to reward Marcus Rashford with a lucrative new contract. The prolific youngster has been in the best form of his life and that has attracted the attention of European heavyweights such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The Red Devils want to secure his long-term future and are planning on giving him a new contract after New Year, which would shoot up his current salary to £300,000-a-week from his current salary of £200,000-a-week.
The club are of the opinion that Rashford’s probable heroics at next summer’s European championships could put the striker in demand. His current deal runs until 2023 with the option of a further year.
Marcus Rashford, or should we say Marcus Rashford MBE has come a long way from being that lanky academy graduate who scored his first goal against FC Midtjylland to becoming a global superstar with his efforts on and off the field.
In 2016, Rashford broke out under Louis Van Gaal and has never looked back. He is closing in on his five years at the club and during that time, Rashford has broken quite some records, predominantly his tendency to score on debuts.
There are very few players who have produced a genuine impact at the club in the post-Ferguson era. Rashford can say he is one of them. The forward has experienced a lot of highs and lows with the club and boasts of an FA Cup, League Cup and a Europa League. Sure there have been times where he has been in a rut but he has taken it all in his stride and worked hard to scale greater heights.
The forward is a regular feature for England too and was a part of the side that went all the way to finishing 4th in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has been an integral part of the side for a while now. With the potential he is showing, he could well go on to become a world-beater.
If that wasn’t enough, Marcus Rashford endeared himself to everyone with his efforts to end child hunger in the UK. His efforts forced the government to change their decision twice and allow for free meals for vulnerable children in the UK.
That earned him the prestigious rank of MBE. It’s hard to fathom someone so young, doing so many things without dropping the ball in any. Yet, Rashford has continued on that path and is Manchester United’s crown jewel. There should be no doubt at the club about handing Rashford a new lucrative long-term contract. He deserves that and more for his continuous service to the club and country, both on and off the field.
