Former Arsenal star Kevin Campbell has urged the club to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer to bolster their midfield options, as per Daily Star.
Rabiot, 25, is a product of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy. In his ten years with the club, he won 6 French League titles and many other trophies. He was one of the best midfielders in the club before leaving them for Juventus on a free transfer last summer.
Though he struggled to feature regularly earlier in the campaign, Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has used him on a regular basis in recent times. He has done well for the Italian outfit since the league resumed. Thus, Arsenal should make a move for the Frenchman at the earliest.
Mikel Arteta should focus on strengthening the midfield. Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Joe Willock, Matteo Guendouzi and Dani Ceballos are the central midfielders available at the manager’s disposal.
Though Xhaka has been immense in recent times, Torreira has struggled this season. Willock is just starting to convince the manager with his performances and Guendouzi has not been used since his Brighton theatrics. Ceballos could be on his way back to Spain once his loan spell ends. Hence, a central midfielder is a must in the summer.
In that regard, signing Rabiot would be a wise decision by the club. The French international is a versatile midfielder capable of playing both in the middle and in a deeper role, having done so on numerous occasions for former side PSG. He has been in good nick of late and has managed to appear 24 times for Juventus in the league.
Despite just being 25, Rabiot is an experienced campaigner with 272 games in his kitty, scoring 26 goals and providing 17 assists. Given his experience, he could be a good addition to Arteta’s squad as he would definitely bring his qualities and add some valuable depth to the squad.
Given the lack of adequate options, it is clear that Arsenal are in need of midfielders. And Rabiot, having featured for some of the top teams in Europe, could be a useful player for the Gunners next season. Moreover, he is just 25 and has a lot more to offer in the future. Thus, they should manage to lure the Frenchman to the Emirates this summer.
