According to the Express, Chelsea would be interested in signing Alex Telles as they are on a hunt for a new left-back
Alex Telles has impressed in Portugal, establishing himself as one of the brightest attacking left-backs in Europe. Telles has provided superb attacking returns this season, bagging 13 goals and 12 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
The player is not just excellent going forward but is also defensively astute with good positional awareness.
The Brazilian is someone who could add a lot of stability, depth and experience to their backline. The player has plied his trade at Galatasaray and Inter Milan. Now at FC Porto, he has put in good displays against quality opposition.
The left-back has been a consistent performer for Porto since joining them and has shown great energy and enthusiasm. As for Chelsea, adding a player like Telles could make their attack more potent. Chelsea are already dangerous in the attack.
Chelsea’s left-backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have struggled to nail down their spot in Lampard’s playing XI. Emerson started the season as the first-choice left-back but his inconsistency cost him his place and there hasn’t been a way back for him. On the other hand, Alonso has impressed going forward but hasn’t been able to do the job defensively.
Lampard has utilized captain Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back very often and it’s logical that he is on the hunt for a left-back. Alex Telles would be one viable option for the Blues. He has been consistently performing in Portugal and has produced massive performances, both defensively and offensively.
Signing him would certainly bring more quality to Chelsea’s left-back department. The Brazilian, who is 27, will be entering his peak years and the time is right for Chelsea to sign the defender who has a proven pedigree at a high level of football.
