According to The Sun, Arsenal have been tipped as one of the clubs to sign Leroy Sane if he leaves Bayern Munich. The German starlet left Manchester City last summer for Bayern but hasn’t been regularly involved with the side.
With sporadic appearances so far, it has been suggested that Sane could leave the Bavarian giants. Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Barcelona are some of the other clubs who have been touted as destinations too. (h/t The Sun)
Sane, 25, who came through Schalke’s youth ranks, made 57 senior appearances for the German outfit. In the process, he scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists and became one of the best young talents across Europe.
His impressive performances were enough to convince Manchester City, who took him on board in the summer of 2016. The speedster made 135 appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals and setting up a whopping 45 assists for his teammates.
In his four years at Etihad, Sane won several trophies, including two Premier League titles. He established himself as one of the best wingers in England’s top-flight. At the start of this season, he left for Bayern Munich.
For large parts of the season, Arsenal’s attack has looked out of sorts. The signing of Willian on a free transfer looked like a huge coup but it has been anything but. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s form has taken an unusual nosedive this season while Nicolas Pepe is yet to inspire confidence.
It is only in the recent weeks that Arsenal have somewhat gained some traction while making a surge up the league table. However, the fact still remains that they have the fewest goals scored among the top 12 sides. Adding another player to freshen up the attack would be a good decision.
Sane is a world-class player and has the ability to change the fate of a game on his own. He would be a crucial player on the left side of the pitch. That would allow Arteta to experiment with his options up top, alternating between Lacazette and Aubameyang when required.
The German winger is a speedy customer on the ball and can add the spark Arsenal are missing in the attack. Thus, Arsenal should definitely look to pounce on the chance to sign him in case he does leave.
