According to The Mirror, German giants Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka in the upcoming transfer window.
Saka, 18, came through the ranks of Arsenal’s youth system and has already become an integral member of senior set-up under Mikel Arteta. He has been brilliant for the Gunners on several occasions and is one of the best young players in the Premier League.
In 30 games across all competitions, Saka has racked up 3 goals and 9 assists. He has been a regular member of England’s youth squad and has a huge future ahead of him. His impressive performances have also attracted the attention of Bayern Munich, as per the report.
The Gunners, meanwhile, after a poor start under Unai Emery, have regrouped towards the latter stages of the campaign and are unbeaten in the league since the turn of the New Year. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s arrival brought in positivity to the squad and the side has done a decent job in the last few months.
However, they have been inconsistent throughout the campaign and they are currently 9th in the league standings. Though the attacking unit has come to life under the leadership of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has scored 17 goals in the league so far, the defence has not been at its best.
David Luiz and Sokratis have been vulnerable at the heart of the defence and it is clear that Arsenal need to bring in reinforcements to their central defence. Apart from that, the wing-back position also needs to be taken care of.
Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac have struggled with injuries throughout the season. In their absence, young Saka has rightly filled the left-back spot. Thus, the Gunners should keep hold of him beyond this summer.
Saka has displayed some match-winning performances and is capable of succeeding at a higher level. He can be a crucial player for them next campaign. Not only has he performed well at left-back, but he is also capable of operating in the midfield and at left-wing.
The English U21 international has performed beyond expectations this term and it is clear that he can go on to be a valuable player under the guidance of Arteta. Thus, keeping hold of Saka would be a wise decision by the club.
At 18, he has already shown signs of promises and has a huge future ahead of him. With his contract coming to an end next summer, Arsenal should hand Saka a new deal.
