Why Barcelona should sign Kingsley Coman to improve their attacking options
According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Evening Standard), Barcelona are considering a move for Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman if they fail to land Neymar in the summer.
Coman, 23, came through the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system and moved to Juventus in the summer of 2014. After just 14 Serie A games, he was sent on loan to Bayern Munich, where he scored 4 goals and provided 6 assists in the Bundesliga that season and earned a permanent move to Germany.
Though he has been impressive for the Bavarians, injuries forced him out of action on several occasions. However, he has done his best whenever he has got opportunities and has also contributed to the team at a decent rate.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are currently on top of the La Liga table despite losing 2-0 to fierce rivals Real Madrid in the most recent El Clasico. They are 2 points ahead of Real and are aiming for another league title.
Despite being on top of the league standings, they have been inconsistent and star forward Lionel Messi has rescued them on several occasions. The absence of the Uruguayan international Luis Suarez has hit them hard as the Catalans have found it difficult to find the back of the net frequently.
In the attacking unit, none of their wide men has contributed heavily. Ousmane Dembele has spent the majority of his Barcelona career on the sidelines and summer signing Antoine Griezmann has not been at his best either, since moving to Camp Nou last summer. Youngster Ansu Fati has done a decent job whenever he has been handed game time but he is still in his learning curve.
Thus, Barcelona boss Quique Setien should look to bring in wingers to the squad if they are to improve their attacking options and Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman would be a viable option for the club.
Despite missing the best part of last campaign, Coman racked up 10 goals and 8 assists in 30 games across all competitions. He has missed a lot of games this season too due to injuries but has racked up 5 goals and 5 assists.
The Frenchman can be a useful addition to Setien’s squad if he is able to keep himself away from injuries and at 23, he could be seen as a long-term prospect. His inclusion would certainly bring healthy competition and would add some much-needed depth.

Verdict
The speedster has all the qualities to succeed at a higher level if he is given the right opportunities and Barcelona are in dire need of wingers, especially in the place of Dembele. Thus, making a move for Coman in the summer would be a wise move by the Catalan giants.
