Brandon Moreno has the nickname of The Assassin Baby and there is a hilarious reason why he is called that

Brandon Moreno will be in action at UFC 290 as he puts up his Flyweight title on the line. The 29-year-old Mexican faces a tough challenge in Alexandre Pantoja, who beat the champion back in 2018.

Moreno has gained a lot of fan following thanks to his incredible fights and his love for Legos. However, there is another interesting aspect to him, and that is his nickname.

The 29-year-old is called The Assassin Baby, and many have wondered how this name came about.

Moreno was asked about this by interviewer and reporter Nina-Marie Daniele, and the champion had a hilarious backstory to this.

Moreno explained that when he started fighting professionally at the age of 17, he looked like a child, and that’s why the name of Baby Assassin came about. However, he had to change it since many would take this up as someone who kills babies and not someone who looks like a baby.

Can Brandon Moreno beat Alexandre Pantoja?

Ever since the loss to Pantoja, Moreno has lost just one fight. That was a loss to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 270.

Moreno lost the title but won an interim title bout against Kai Kara-France and then beat Figueiredo to reclaim the undisputed title.

Pantoja, for his part, has won his last three fights and holds a record of 25 wins and 5 losses. The Brazilian did lose to Oskar Askarov and Figueiredo in 2020 and 2019, respectively, and will be keen on not picking up a loss in the biggest fight of his UFC career.

Moreno does have a lot of quality in him, and he should start as the favourite in this fight. However, nothing can be ruled out in the UFC, and there could be a new champion in the Flyweight division if Moreno is not on top of his game.
