Why Carlos Soler would be a good addition to Arsenal’s squad

According to Mirror Football, Arsenal are considering a summer swoop for Valencia’s Carlos Soler. However, Soler has a release clause of £140m and he signed a new deal at the Mestalla back in December.

Soler, 23, came through Valencia’s youth ranks and was promoted to the first-team in 2017. In 123 appearances for the club, he has scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists. He has been a regular member in the last two years.

After struggling with an ankle injury in the initial stages of the campaign, the Spaniard has featured regularly since his return to the team. He has taken his game to the next level and his qualities have been impressive.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are enjoying a successful spell under Mikel Arteta as they haven’t lost a game in 2020. They are currently 9th in the league table just 7 points away from fourth-placed Chelsea.

Arteta’s arrival at North London has brought optimism within the club and he has turned the fortunes of the club. The Gunners would be hoping to qualify for Europe and they need to be at their best next season if they are to achieve their targets.

The manager would have the chance to work with the team right from the start of the new season and he should look to strengthen his squad in several areas. One key area that needs to be revamped is the midfield.

They have a plethora of central midfielders in their ranks in Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock, Ainsley-Maitland-Niles, Mesut Ozil and Dani Ceballos. However, Ceballos is currently on loan and would return to Real Madrid after his loan spell.

In that regard, Arteta would be able to do well with Carlo Soler, who has been impressive for Valencia throughout the season. In 16 league games, he has scored two goals an is quickly developing himself.

The 23-year-old is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, where Arsenal have only Ozil in that position. He can play anywhere in the midfield and would be a good addition to the squad given that he is a highly-rated young midfielder in Spain. Arsenal must consider the Spanish youth international as a replacement for Ceballos, who is on loan.
