Why Crystal Palace should invest in Evanilson for the future
According to Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Fluminense youngster Evanilson ahead of the new campaign.
The report suggests that the Brazilian is open to a move but the Eagles could face competition to secure his services as Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City have also kept tabs on the striker.
Profile
Born in Brazil, Evanilson came through the ranks of Fluminense and made his senior debut last season. He was then signed by Tombense last January and was sent back to his boyhood club on a two-year loan deal.
He scored 2 goals in 3 Serie A games last season and has already made six appearances in the 2020 league campaign. So far, he has managed to rack up 8 goals and 1 assist in 17 games for the Brazilian outfit and is one of the best young talents in the country.
And the fact that Liverpool and Manchester City have watched him shows that he is capable of doing well in the future.
Evanilson could be a future leader in Palace’s attack
At the moment, Palace are not in the best position as they enter into the new season on the back of a disappointing 2019/20 campaign. They managed to score just 31 goals last season, which was the second-lowest goal tally in the league.
Jordan Ayew was their top scorer with 9 goals and Wilfried Zaha finished the campaign with 4 to his name. And it is clear that the Eagles have lacked the intensity in front of goal. Experienced campaigner Christian Benteke has endured a huge hit in form as he managed to score just 2 goals. Thus, they need to bring in youngsters with an eye for the future.
In that regard, Evanilson would be a viable option for the club. His rise has been rather swift in the last couple of seasons. Though he has not been prolific, he has already shown potential at a young age. And with experience, he should only get better.
Benteke is currently out of form and Zaha has been linked with an exit. And this could reduce Palace’s quality upfront. Thus, Roy Hodgson should look to invest in the youth for the future. The Brazilian could develop himself under the guidance of someone like Hodgson.

Verdict
Palace have been deprived of quality up front and it could get worse if Zaha exits the club this summer. Thus, investing in the youth could help them reap rewards in the future. Thus, Palace must sign the 20-year-old Evanilson.
