Darren Till didn’t have any music while walking out to fight Robert Whittaker

Darren Till vs Robert Whittaker was the main event for the latest UFC event. This was also the final event on Fight Island are some incredible matches in Abu Dhabi.

Whittaker came out to his normal tunes ahead of the clash but Till came out in complete silence. The British star normally comes out to Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline but decided not to do so in an empty arena.

The UFC, like every sporting body, has decided not to allow fans into any of their arenas due to the coronavirus outbreak. This was followed in the USA and now in Abu Dhabi too, with only select staff and personnel allowed to be part of the events.

However, it was explained why the Englishman did that. The song is actually for the fans who are in attendance and the millions that are watching from home.

Of course, the song itself is legendary for its use in football stadiums and the fans singing along. Till, from Liverpool, certainly got a lot of support from the Scousers during a fight and the energy in the arena is different with thousands belting out “Sweet Caroline”.

No feel good moment for Till

The lack of fans was certainly an aspect affecting the fighters in the Octagon and Till couldn’t get the better of his rival on Saturday.

While Till tried to get the better of the former champion, Whittaker had scouted the Englishman well.

This was Till’s third career loss, he only has one win from his last four clashes. However, the defeats have come against some of the best in the division including Jorge Masvidal and Tyron Woodley.

This would have been a bitter defeat for Till after having beaten Kelvin Gastelum in his previous clash. The Englishman could have been in the scene for a title fight in the future but that has been pegged back after this loss.
