Find out what made Adam Cole join AEW
Sunday’s AEW All out turned out to be a pretty eventful show for many reasons. Not only did CM Punk win his debut match. Adam Cole made his first AEW appearance as well. There were speculations going around regarding the arrival of former WWE star Adam Cole to AEW.
After Kenny omega defeated Christian Cage to retain the AEW World Championship, Kenny went out to showboat claiming there was no one left to challenge him. As he was about to finish Adam’s music went on and the fans went crazy.
It was the long awaited arrival of Cole into the AEW promotion. With the first sight it looked as if Adam was there to challenge Kenny but it was the opposite. Adam entered the ring and received a warm welcome by Kenny Omega and Young Bucks.
The fans absolutely loved the sight of Adam at AEW. It would be quite interesting to see what AEW holds for the former NXT superstar.
Why Adam Cole decided to leave the WWE?
Adam made his WWE debut in 2017 under the NXT promotion. Adam had since been the part of NXT and became a superstar under the brand. As, rumors were going around about him joining another company when is contract was about to expire.
The move to leave WWE and join AEW is due to many factors . Adam Cole’s initial WWE contract expired in July 2021. He was then signed to short term deal until August. Adam’s last WWE match at NXT takeover 36 where his storyline with Kyle O’Riley ended.
It was reported that if Adam is to sign a new contract with the WWE he’ll be brought into Raw or SmackDown.
Adam also revealed that the decision to go to AEW was a fairly easy one. This is what he had to say (h/t WrestlingInc):
“I’d seen everything AEW was doing. I’d been here countless times to support Britt and to hang out with the crew, and it’s just the best crew. The shows are amazing, the fans are amazing. At the same time I had really built a reputation for myself there as well. But I knew in my heart pretty early on that I wanted to come here.”
Adam Cole’s long time girlfriend Britt Baker is also the part of AEW, In fact she’s their Women’s Champion as well. Adam Cole is also friends with Kenny Omega and Young Bucks.
So, all of the above reasons kept in mind, It seems like a very fair move to change the promotion and hop onto to AEW bandwagon.
Adam also revealed that if he were to extend his contract with WWE and move to the big leagues of Raw and SmackDown it would have been tough for him to continue streaming on Twitch. He loves to stream on Twitch. According to him it gives him a platform to closely connect with the fans.
With Adam beginning his career at AEW it would be interesting to see the storyline made for him by AEW.
