Why did Bobby Lashley and Rusev not feature in the 2020 Royal Rumble?

Bobby Lashley and Rusev didn’t face off in the 2020 Royal Rumble

The 2020 Royal Rumble featured some big names such as Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman and even Edge returning, however, Bobby Lashley and Rusev were not seen in action.

The pair have been going at it since the issues with Lana started a few months back, and were in action during last week’s Raw too.

There is a lot of bad blood between the pair and it seemed they could have fought more during the 2020 Royal Rumble.

However, that didn’t take place as before the match started Michael Cole and Corey Graves confirmed that the pair didn’t make it to the ring.

The announcers added that Rusev and Lashley were brawling in the backstage and were in no shape to compete in the Rumble.

This came as a bit of a shock to Graves, who thought that Lashley would go deep into the match. Cole, for his part, believed that Rusev could have won the Royal Rumble, but there were a few surprises in the show.

A Rated-R return

Edge had been out of competition for nine years but made a shock return to the Royal Rumble. The Rated-R Superstar looked in great shape as he put in several spears and was one of the final competitors in the match.

However, the Beast made a mistake when dealing with Ricochet and Drew McIntyre. The pair worked well to eliminate Lesnar, with the Scot going deep into the match too.

Another surprise was seeing MVP return to WWE action but he was eliminated by Lesnar too. Keith Lee and Matt Riddle were two of the NXT stars to make their mark in this match.
