Cody Rhodes recently bid adieu to AEW, as confirmed by Tony Khan in the morning
AEW superstar Cody Rhodes has officially left the company, as confirmed by a statement from him and AEW president Tony Khan. He took to Twitter and wrote a heartfelt message to Rhodes. Khan mentioned that he has immense respect for Cody and Brandi and wishes them the best as they move from AEW.
Thank you Cody and Brandi Rhodes
After Khan’s statement, Cody also took to Twitter and released his statement regarding the departure. He also mentioned the crew members and their contribution along with the EVP’s of the company.
“I have loved my time at AEW. Amazing locker room. Amazing fans. Amazing people. The ‘revolution’ was indeed televised, and I’ve been incredibly lucky to be part of that. First, I want to thank Tony Khan. He’s taken the baton and run with it, and it was an honor to work for him and to know him on a personal level. He’s a beautiful soul. Obviously need to thank my incredible Wife and the mother of my baby girl, Brandi, for all of her love and support throughout this journey together and the amazing relationships she fostered with Kulture City and the American Heart Association. I also need to thank Nick and Matt Jackson (these two, whether they know it or not, took an undesired and not confident lir cub and gifted me the confidence to become a leader of the pack), Kenneth Omega, Chris Jericho, Chicken…we started the fire.”
His Wife Brandi also took to Twitter and wrote a heartfelt message about the company.
“Thank you“
Cody Rhodes might be on his way to WWE after leaving AEW
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has shed some light on the situation. He has learned via sources that Rhodes was looking for a “big money deal”, but by last Friday, multiple people inside and outside the company believed he was out of the company.
He has also noted that WWE officials were aware of the situation and that Cody and Brandi Rhodes had discussions with them, but it is still not confirmed whether they will actually go in WWE.
Rhodes was one of the founding members of AEW and executive vice president who saw his latest contract end at the beginning of the year. However, he confirmed his free status after dropping the TNT Championship to Sammy Guevara in a ladder match on 26 January.
