An emotional Rich Swann confirmed his retirement on this week’s Impact Wrestling due to an injury
Former WWE star Rich Swann confirmed his retirement on Impact Wrestling as his time in the promotion came to an end.
Swann is a former X Division champion and had suffered a serious ankle injury in the past. He came out to speak about how tough the road was to return to action.
However, Swann, a former Cruiserweight Champion in WWE, was motivated to make his return with Slammiversary around the corner.
He was part of the six-way elimination match for the Impact World Championship. However, he was attacked by Eric Young after he pinned Young.
Young also used a steel chair and smashed Swann’s ankle which led to further damage. The former X Division champion came out to this week’s Impact wearing a brace on his right leg and he confirmed the worst news.
Doctors had told him that if he kept on wrestling his life would change completely, and as such he had to call his retirement.
Many of the Impact stars came out to thank Swann for his time in the ring. An emotional Swann went back out of the ring, but there was more to come.
Young wasn’t done with his first attack on Swann and he latched into the star again. This time, he used Swann’s crutches to hurt the injured ankle and ran away before anyone could make a move.
Swann was in a lot of pain as the medics worked on him. However, this could all be an angle that allows Swann to recuperate from a legitimate injury and also prepare for a proper battle against Young.
Young also tweeted out that he was going to damage Swann and claimed this was just the beginning:
Young recently joined Impact Wrestling after he was one of the stars released by WWE. It will be interesting to see what happens with Swann and Young next.
