Rose Namajunas is a former UFC Champion but why did ‘Thug Rose’ cut her hair?
Rose Namanjunas is one of the toughest MMA stars in the world. The former UFC Women’s Strawweight champion also carries the ‘Thug Rose’ moniker, and she does sport a really tough look.
The American sports a shaved look which can be a little intimidating in the Octagon, but why did she cut her hair?
New MMA fans who have seen Rose during the last few years might believe that the American always sported this hairstyle.
However, Rose actually had long hair at one point in time. She then cut her brown hair in an old Instagram post and explained why she decided to make the change.
“It’s a fight not a beauty pageant.
“S**t’s in my way at practice… Cut it off!”
The buzzcut is something that Rose is now known for and it has helped her conquer the UFC world. She has won the UFC Women’s Strawweight title twice and has several other accolades to her name.
The American will be back in action this weekend as she faces rising French star Manon Fiorot. This event takes place in Paris, France, and is headlined by a Heavyweight clash between former title challenger Ciryl Gane and Sergey Spivak.
Namajunas comes into this fight after a shock loss to Carla Esparza at UFC 274. She lost her title at the event, and Rose is returning to the Octagon after more than a year.
Things will not be easy for the former champion as she takes on the French star. Fiorot is undefeated in her UFC career and is on a 10-fight winning streak.
A win for either star could see them get a title shot, given that Rose is a former champion while Fiorot is ranked #2 in the women’s Flyweight rankings.
Rose had earlier fought in the Strawweight division, but her moving up to Flyweight and challenging Fiorot can be seen as an attempt to become a two-division champion.
