UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones checked himself into the MDC as part of his plea agreement from an earlier arrest

UFC star Jon Jones checked himself into the Albuquerque MDC, according to KRQE News.

Jones checked in on Friday, according to the report, and this is part of a plea deal done earlier in the year.

Mixed martial artist Jon Jones cries as he speaks during a news conference at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino to address being pulled from his light heavyweight title fight at UFC 200 against Daniel Cormier due to a potential violation of the UFC’s anti-doping policy on July 7, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC Champion was arrested for a second time as he was driving under the influence. This was huge news as Jones had been arrested several times in the past.

The Light Heavyweight Champion was in his car and was even carrying a firearm. However, no one was hurt in this incident, and there were calls from some sections for severe punishment.

Jones was let off lightly and the report adds that he will spend four days in custody in the community custody program.

This allows Jones to serve outside of the MDC but he has to wear an ankle monitor.

Chael Sonnen, who doesn’t always see eye to eye with Jones, also spoke about this arrest a while back.

However, the UFC legend claimed that the judge who sentenced Jones was the right person to make a decision regarding the DUI offence. Jones pleaded guilty and this is part of his punishment for the offence.

Jones certainly is one of the most controversial figures outside the UFC thanks to his run-ins with the law.

However, there is no denying that he is one of the greatest MMA stars of all-time.

When does Jon Jones fight next?

The last time Jones fought was at UFC 247 against Dominick Reyes. While some believed that the fight was close and Reyes had won the title, it was Jones who kept hold of the gold.

Reyes is keen on a second clash against Jones. However, Jones isn’t keen on this clash and has called out other stars.

He wanted to fight Francis Ngannou but the UFC couldn’t finalise a deal for this clash. Israel Adesanya is another star that has a beef with Jones too.

However, that seems to be out of the question for now. Paulo Costa has also called out Jones in recent weeks, and it will be interesting to see what is next for Bones.

The 32-year-old claimed he was vacating his title too, but there hasn’t been any confirmation of a fight for the crown yet.

Jones wants a big payday and even called out Mike Tyson for an MMA and boxing clash. However, that is unlikely to see the light of day too.
