Why Emery should beat Arsene Wenger to bring this £25m midfield prodigy to Arsenal

Arsenal faces are finally looking joyous after the arrival of new manager Unai Emery this summer. The manager is well renowned in Europe, famously winning the Europa League three times straight with Spanish club Sevilla. The Spanish coach is one of the most decorated managers in Europe. Unai Emery did manage to win the Ligue 1 and the domestic cup with PSG but failed to build a strong Champions League run.

The manager has come in at Arsenal and has brought a fresh breath of air along with him. He has already completed a few signings for the club, showing everyone that he means business. Arsenal have already brought in Juventus right-back Stephan Lichsteiner on a free transfer. That’s a massive signing for no money. The club also signed Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernard Leno for a reported fee of around £19.3million.

Rumour has it that Emery is still aiming to bring in more players, especially after long-serving player Jack Wilshere announced his departure from the club. Arsenal are going to need to bring in a replacement for the 26-year-old, who is one of their key players in central midfield.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in signing £25m Russian prodigy Aleksandr Golovin from CSKA Moscow but they could face competition from Arsene Wenger, who is reportedly ready to sign Golovin at whichever club he might join. The 22-year-old midfielder joined the club in 2014 but very much rose to prominence this year. He made a total of 26 appearances in the Russian Premier League, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists.

He is technically brilliant and has a great football ethic. The youngster is also a good passer of the ball and possesses great ability to distribute the ball from the middle. He is also fantastic when it comes to holding the ball under pressure and feeding his teammates on the run. These are all qualities that make him a perfect fit for the Arsenal squad.

He has also been on fire for Russia in the World Cup so far, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists in 2 games. The midfielder belongs to a new era of footballers in Russia. He has surely been Russia’s best player so far and their progress will largely depend on his performances.

Golovin would be a great addition to the Arsenal side who often look blank in midfield. With the Russian in the middle of the park, Aubameyang and Lacazette would thrive in his presence. Unai Emery should do everything in his power to sign the midfielder. He has been getting better and his price will only go higher after the World Cup. Arsenal need to snap up the player before any other rival clubs do. Keep a close eye on Golovin as Russia progress to the next round of the World Cup.
