Why Everton should keep hold of Moise Kean amidst Real Madrid link

According to Defensa Central (h/t Liverpool Echo), Real Madrid are monitoring Everton striker Moise Kean as an alternative for Kylian Mbappe.

Kean, 19, came through the ranks of Torino and Juventus’ youth system. He also featured for Hellas Verona for a year on loan and made a breakthrough in the last campaign. In 21 games for Juventus’ senior team, he scored 8 goals while mostly coming on from the bench.

He previously scored plenty of goals for the youth side before making his first-team appearance. And Everton signed him last summer, despite having the likes of the in-form Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The teenager struggled for the majority of the season under Marco Silva. However, he netted his first Premier League goal last month against Newcastle United and has provided two assists so far.

He made his debut for Italy in November 2018 and in 3 games, he has found the back of the net twice.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti’s arrival has brought optimism within the club after back-to-back victories against Watford and Crystal Palace recently.

One of the main reasons behind the change in their fortunes is the improvement by the forwards. Richarlison has been used in the centre-forward position alongside the Englishman and they have done a decent job so far.

However, the Brazilian is at his best when deployed in his favoured left-wing position. This would leave the manager with just three strikers in Calvert-Lewin, Kean and Oumar Niasse.

Niasse has featured for a total of 18 minutes in the league and his contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign. Therefore, to maintain depth in their squad, the Toffees must not allow the La Liga giants to snap their teenage striker.

Kean has a proven track record in his youth career and has been lively in the last few games. Therefore, under proper guidance, he would do well by learning from Ancelotti.

Verdict

Kean has the tools needed to succeed further and Everton would be wise to retain him for some more time.

Therefore, Everton must avoid any kind of offer for Kean and keep him at the club at least until his contract comes to an end.
