According to Daily Mail, Leicester City has made inquiries over a possible signing for Slavia Sofia youngster Filip Krastev ahead of the summer transfer window.
Krastev, 18, came through the ranks of Salvia Sofia’s youth system and was promoted to the club’s senior set-up in the summer of 2018. Though he made his debut last season, his breakthrough came this term and he been a regular member in the last few months for the Bulgarian outfit.
The midfielder has been impressive in the last 5 games he has featured in, scoring a crucial goal and further setting up one for his team. His eye-catching displays have attracted Leicester City, as per the report.
Meanwhile, the Foxes have enjoyed a brilliant campaign under Brendan Rodgers. Despite a slight dip in form, they have managed to stay in the hunt for Champions League qualification and are few steps away from getting qualified for the competition.
They are flying high on the back of the success of star striker Jamie Vardy, who has scored 19 goals so far. The Foxes’ defensive pair – Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans have also been at their best, conceding just 28 goals. This is the third-best defensive record in the league.
Rodgers has managed to get the best out of every department and that has paid off well. However, the manager should look to bring in reinforcements if they are to build a strong team for the future.
Leicester have a plethora of midfield talents in James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Youri Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi and Hamza Choudhury. All of them have done a decent job so far, especially with the attack-minded midfielders providing enough support to the strikers.
However, Maddison has been heavily linked with a move away from the club and Bartosz Kapustka has failed to make an impression. In that regard, signing Krastev from Slavia Sofia would be helpful for the Foxes in the future.
Krastev has been a regular member of the Bulgarian U19 side and has received reviews for his impressive performances despite his tender age. His inclusion would also help Leicester stock up players for the future and under Rodgers’ guidance, he could be a crucial player.
Leicester need to improve their midfield if they are to prolong at the highest level. They could lose their best players and thus, bringing in reinforcements would be the best idea. Thus, they should make a move for Krastev this summer.
