Why Fulham must beat Wolves in pursuit of £16million-rated Oleksandr Zinchenko
According to a report by The Telegraph, Fulham are interested in hijacking Wolverhampton Wanderers’ move to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Manchester City starlet is valued in the region of £16million and it remains to be seen if the Cottagers can beat their fellow newly-promoted rivals. After wrapping up a sensational double swoop to sign Jean Michael Seri and Maxime le Marchand, the Londoners are capable of upsetting Wolves’ plans as well.
The Ukraine sensation generally operates as an attacking midfielder but if needed, he can also slot in as a wing-back. However, with interest from both Fulham and Wolves, a bidding war seems to be on the horizon.
Like Fulham, Wolves have been quite active in the transfer market as well and it goes without saying that they will go all out to sign their target. But if the Cottagers are able to offer a better deal, perhaps they might edge past the Midlands outfit and snap up a deal for Zinchenko.
As far as the versatile left-footed youngster is concerned, he clearly does not have a future at City. Pep Guardiola’s first-team is filled to the brim with solid midfield options. And even though Yaya Toure has left the club this summer, it would still be tough for Zinchenko to make an impact. At 21 years of age, it is a less-than-ideal situation for him to not play regularly. Moving to Fulham, however, will certainly change that.
The Telegraph further claims that Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is likely to provide Zinchenko with his preferred position in the midfield. With the likes of Seri and Tom Cairney in the mix, signing Zinchenko could truly complete the club’s midfield puzzle. That said, the Cottagers were quite strong in the previous campaign as well.
They shattered expectations by sparking a late resurgence in the Championship and then successfully defeated Aston Villa to secure the promotion.

And now, Jokanovic has a tough task at hand. It won’t be easy to stand strong against the Premier League bigwigs but he has already made a massive statement of intent by wrapping up a deal for Seri. Now, to continue the good work, Fulham must sign Zinchenko from City.
