According to Mirror, Gabriel Veron has caught the eye of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. The £23m-rated wonderkid from Palmeiras has been the subject of interest from Manchester United and Juventus as well.
Teenager Veron, who won’t be 19 until September next year, has garnered a lot of attention after breaking into Palmeiras’ first-team this season. He is already a hot property in his native Brazil after helping the under-17 Brazil national team emerge as champions in the 2019 World Cup. An undisputed starter during the competition, Veron scored three goals and provided as many assists to bag the Golden Ball.
A youth product of Palmeiras, Veron made his first-team debut for the club in the Brazilian top-flight in their 1-0 away loss against Fluminense last November. The versatile forward has racked up an impressive 10 goals and 4 assists in less than 30 games for his side.
Arsenal are going through perhaps one of their worst phases in the Premier League. They have already lost 7 of their 13 games in the league and are looking no closer to finding a solution which would push them out of this situation.
Their attack has been a massive let down this season as the likes of Aubameyang, Willian, Lacazette and Pepe have let the team down. Yes, they haven’t received adequate service from the midfield but that’s for another day. The club’s top scorer is Eddie Nketiah, which should tell you how better the youngsters have fared.
Keeping that in mind, Gabriel Veron can be the youthful boost the club needs at this time. Arsenal have always been the one to look out for potential superstars at a young age. Veron fits the bill of what Arsenal need.
That would surely be of interest to Arsenal as they would want to refresh their options in the attack. With the senior attackers stagnating and in turn slowing the team down, Arteta would be wise to pursue the Palmeiras forward. He can be a shrewd investment for the future, which can eventually pay huge dividends.
