Why Harry Kane would be a dream signing for Manchester City

According to the Independent (h/t Eurosport), Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has asked the club’s board to sign Harry Kane. The Catalan coach wanted the board to see if the signing was possible. Kane was said to be growing frustrated and would be considering his future if Spurs failed to win any silverware this season.

The Spurs frontman actually had spells at Ridgeway Rovers (twice), Arsenal and Watford before linking up with Tottenham. It was in 2004 that he would join Spurs’ academy and he spent 5 years in the youth side before being promoted to the U-18s. However, within just one season, he was called up to the senior side.

His path to the first-team was a long and complicated one as he went on three separate loan spells to Leyton Orient, Millwall and Leicester City. Kane was given his chance in 2013-14 but with limited games, he couldn’t perform too well.

However, what transpired from the season after would never stop. Since then Kane has become one of the most lethal frontmen in England and Europe. In 302 appearances for Spurs, he has scored a staggering 201 goals and assisted another 41. The forward is the captain of the national team with 48 appearances and 32 goals.

Harry Kane would be the best forward to replace Aguero

It is no secret that Manchester City are on the lookout for possible replacements for Sergio Aguero. The club-record scorer has slowly shown signs that age is catching up to him as he suffers from repeated injuries. His form and class still remain but it is natural on a club’s part that they start looking for replacements.

There are few strikers who can say that they have been the Premier League’s best other than Kane. The Spurs man may not have enjoyed collective success with the team but he has kept up his scintillating run in front of goal over the last 6-7 years. This season he has added another facet to his game – improved playmaking abilities.
