Candy Cartwright had accused Matt Riddle of sexual assault during the Speaking Out movement and has now sued the WWE star and several others
Matt Riddle and the WWE were two parties sued by independent wrestler, Candy Cartwright, for $10m each, according to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.
This is the continuation of the legal battles that have plagued Riddle ever since these sexual assault allegations came out.
Cartwright is also suing Evolve and former owner of Evolve, Gabe Sapolsky, according to the report.
The allegations were made earlier in the year when Riddle was moving from NXT to SmackDown. WWE backed their star at the time and Riddle even came out with a statement rubbishing the sexual assault allegations.
He later came out with a video confirming that he had cheated on his wife, Lisa Riddle, with Cartwright in 2018.
However, the Original Bro added that all of this was consensual and didn’t want to bring it up because he felt horrible about it.
This is crazy. It’s been two weeks and I’m still getting hate messages/threats and seeing stuff like this. If I’ve been “stalking for years” then why is this from 2019? This was also taken after I went to see him on an nxt loop and he got me tickets to two shows… https://t.co/UpnnZwrGU1 pic.twitter.com/4iZtwQx2Or

Why has Cartwright sued them now?
The lawsuit mentions the actions of Riddle in 2018 and how he forced her to perform a sexual act after he threatened her.
This was done in front of others during an Evolve show and Riddle had started sexually assaulting her from 2017.
She has filed lawsuits against Riddle and Evolve for $10m each and even Sapolsky for not taking action when he knew about these stories.
The report adds that WWE was added to the list since they didn’t take any action against Riddle and indirectly supported the star.
Further, Cartwright has claimed that she had dates to work with Evolve and WWE. However, Riddle forced the two promotions to stop working with her since she decided not to perform sexual acts on the Original Bro.
WWE responded to this story by claiming that they hadn’t been sued by Samantha Tavel (Candy Cartwright).
WWE issued me a statement in response to the Candy Cartwright lawsuit:
"“WWE has not been served with a lawsuit by Ms. Tavel. However, if served, we will vigorously defend ourselves and contest it.”

The Speaking Out movement hit the wrestling industry hard as several stars were called out for their sexual abuse over years.
WWE also fired and released several names who were called out, but they have stuck by Riddle during all this.
