Why Heung-Min Son would be a smashing signing for Real Madrid

According to Turkish journalist Ekren Konur (h/t Football.london), Real Madrid are considering an approach for Tottenham ace Heung-Min Son. It is being reported by Konur that manager Zinedine Zidane is personally monitoring the South Korean’s progress at Spurs and that the Blancos will soon meet with the club to gather more info about the player.

Real Madrid need more goalscorers in the side

It was only due to the sheer grit and determination of the side that they won the La Liga last season. They didn’t start this season well but have performed better in recent games. However, it is rather apparent that they need a prolific goal scorer to ease some of the burden on Karim Benzema’s ageing legs. Plus, their overall style of play lacks the usual desire and drive.

The Eden Hazard experiment is yet to produce results as the Belgian has suffered from various injuries and fitness issues ever since joining the club for £130million in 2019. So far, he has been able to play just 30 games for the club scoring thrice and assisting another 7. He has missed 44 games for the Blancos to date.

Son can be the solution to their problems

They are struggling to score goals at their usual rate, also conceding goals with relative ease. Coach Zinedine Zidane looks short of ideas. The club needs a talismanic player at this point to restore them to their former glory. Someone in the ilk of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. They had hoped Hazard would be that player but sadly, it has been anything but.

In recent seasons, Heung-Min Son has become one of the deadliest forwards in the Premier League. The South Korean has regularly found himself in the top scorers chart and has taken his game to a whole different level this season. A tally of 16 goals and 8 assists in just 25 games should be enough evidence.

He has dovetailed so well with Harry Kane at the club and kept firing the goals, trying to push Tottenham to a better position than last season. Real Madrid cannot go wrong with the signing of Son.

He is a proven goalscorer at the elite level and for quite a while too. Son is the need of the hour at Real and it remains to be seen how serious they are about getting the player on their books.
