Frank Mir arm: Former MMA star details his horrific injury
Many fans have searched ‘Frank Mir arm’ on the internet and the former UFC star sat down with Christopher Van Vliet, a Canadian television/radio personality, YouTuber, professional film critic, and entrepreneur. Amongst the various subjects they covered, Mir spoke about why his right arm is smaller than his left.
”There is a major difference between my right arm and my left arm. I have just gotten to the point where I’m willing to wear t-shirts. Because its actually twice as size as it was. About two weeks before the fight, back in August I was training with Nick, and my goal was to bench press 400 lbs. I figured that I’m turning 40, and I would like to break 700 on the squats or deadlift. I have been in the 400’s before, but that wasn’t where I was currently. I was up to 385 in August, and I was feeling good. I thought by October I should be over 400 again”
”The next week, the following Monday, and I was struggling for 365, the rack fell on my chest, and I was like this feels weird. I went to spar, wrestle, I was little over trained, but my leg and back workout was strong.”
He added by saying that in one of those trainings, he went to bench press 315 lbs, after he son hit it, and he couldn’t go past 4. He realized that he couldn’t pull off the fifth, and he could feel his strength levels plummeting. He went on to visit the doctor, because he could feel his balance was completely off. They went for a neck MRI, and Mir later realized that his neck was fusing together due to lack of cartilage in Vertebrae 4,5, and 6.
He added, ”This injury has been taking forever to heal, to regain my strength. I only curl 10 lbs with my right hand. Right now I’m wearing t-shirts because my arm is 15 inches, back then it was like 12.”
