But he has been using the name Machado lately, and fans have been wondering why. UFC commentators Jon Anik and Megan Olivi shed some light on it and cleared the air during UFC 276.

Ian Machado Garry married Layla Anna-Lee, an English TV presenter, specializing in sports. She can be often seen interviewing some of the most popular athletes in the world. In his post-fight interview, Garry revealed that he is expecting with his 39-year-old wife Layla at the end of this year.

Layla already has a son with the last name Machado. Since the couple are now expecting, Garry adopted the name Machado to keep the names similar.

Jon Anik was heard asking Megan Olivi –“Name change for Ian Machado Garry late in the week. What can you tell us on that?”
Olivi replied by saying, “That’s correct Jon. His wife, Layla, is Brazilian and Machado was her last name. She has a son who also has Machado in his name.”
“And now that they’re expecting again they wanted to make sure that the brothers had a name in common. So that they felt they were all one big family with co-parenting.”

“So they all added it to their name so that none feels left out”

Ian Garry reacts to Conor Mcgregor’s praise, labels his run inside the UFC ‘Takeover part 2’

It’s obvious that Ian Machado Garry draws inspiration from McGregor’s career in the UFC, and words of encouragement from the ‘Notorious’ one would go a long way in motivating him. Reacting to the praise, he even proposed the idea of bringing the UFC back to Dublin.

Conor McGregor showered praises on the young Irish lad for his performance at UFC 276. He wrote, ‘Ian Garry was incredibly impressive this weekend. Fully immersed in it all. Enjoying every second. Willingness to engage/commit. The potential for another “future” Irish MMA UFC champion rose by a real nice margin this weekend. Congrats Ian, keep going brother!

Garry wrote, ‘Thank You! The Take Over Part 2 continues to grow, I cannot wait for your return. Let’s bring the @ufc back to Dublin. It’s Inevitable.
