Jiri Prochazka is all set to challenge light heavyweight champion, Glover Teixeira, for the light heavyweight belt, but why is the fighter known as BJP?
Jiri Prochazka has emerged as one of the most intriguing characters in the UFC roaster, somewhat resembling an anime character. His mystical demeanour, zany training methods, and anomalous style quotient have made him a popular figure.
Jiri Prochazka is one of the most creative, dynamic, and explosive strikers in the division. Prochazka can really test Texeira by imposing his youth on the fighter, while Texeira will put his experience to full use by testing the groundwork of Jiri. Jiri has been training extensively with Henry Cejudo at his gym ahead of UFC 275.
Everything, right from his hairdo to his fighting style is unique. He debuted his new hair back in UFC Vegas 25, inspired by the Mongkhon headgear worn by Muay Thai athletes performing the wai khru.
He is also known to use the initials BJP often, and he clarified the meaning of that term to MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.
Prochazka said, “That’s me. Bomby jak píča in Czech language. That’s my idea…when I started with martial arts I did some training for the special power of punches. That’s Bomby jak píča training, and after many years, I keep the training every Sunday. That is my special BJP training…Every Sunday is my BJP training. To fight a target and destroy guys.”
Funnily enough, Bomby jak píča translates to Bombs like c*** in English.

Jan Blachowicz is embarking on a path of resurgence and faced top contender Alexandar Rakic very recently. He won the fight by TKO after Rakic injured his ACL between the fight. The victory put Blachowicz right back into title contention spot.
During an appearance on MMAFighting.com‘s The MMA Hour, Jan Blachowicz expressed his belief that a fight against Procházka would do big numbers in his hometown country.
“I think both, if Glover wins, it’s gonna be a good story about the rematch; with Jiri, very good for us because if they will do this fight in Europe then it will be one of the biggest fights in Europe,” Blachowicz said on The MMA Hour when asked if he had a preference between fighting Teixeira or Prochazka. “Me against Jiri. It will be amazing because we’ll do somewhere in Poland or Czech Republic.
“I think if they will make this fight in Poland, me against Jiri, in national stadium. Joanna [Jedrzejczyk], Mateusz Gamrot. Sixty thousand people could be there.”
He continued by adding, “I like both of them, but I keep thinking a little bit for Glover because I would like to take a rematch and take the belt from his hands,” Blachowicz said. “But we will see. But yes, I will be supporting Glover.
“If Glover take down Jiri, then he will win the fight,” he added. “But you know, Jiri is a crazy fighter with a crazy style, weird style, but it’s working in a good way. So we will see, 50/50, we will see. I’m curious. Maybe I’m gonna be there, we’ll see. We’re working on this to be there.”
