The WWE and UFC merged to form TKO Group Holdings recently, but the wrestling side of the business is planning cuts and layoffs
WWE President Nick Khan has sent out an email regarding the possible layoffs and cuts the wrestling business will take up.
The report from PWInsider (h/t Wrestling Inc) adds that WWE employees have been asked to work from home on, and the cuts and layoffs will begin from Friday.
Ari Emanuel, the TKO and Endeavor CEO had spoken about some cuts taking place after the acquisition for cost-cutting, and it seems the cuts will be starting soon.
The report adds that Khan sent out a memo to all WWE employees to work from home or remotely as HR plans for the layoffs. The report claims that HR wants to deal with this in a private and respectful manner, and Khan will also be sending a mail to all employees after Friday’s layoffs are done.
Nick Khan also spoke about the decision in his email and claimed that the employees in WWE were “the most talented, creative, and hard-working” but these decisions are “difficult.”
The WWE President also added that they had nothing but “gratitude and admiration for everyone” they worked with and thanked them
The WWE is known for making some big cuts to their roster from time to time. They have let go of big names in the past, and some stars such as Aleister Black, Karrion Kross, the late Bray Wyatt, Andrade, Kurt Angle have been released over the years.
It was during the COVID era that these random cuts started, and it has continued for a while. While the mail from Khan doesn’t seem to speak about wrestlers being cut or not, there is no guarantee what the WWE side of things might be thinking.
They do have a huge roster, even after making a ton of cuts over the years, and it will be interesting to see what they do with the wrestlers.
It would not be a surprise if some cuts were made since WWE has three brands, and these could be nervous times for all wrestlers involved.
The big names should be fine, but those who aren’t quite at the top or have been missing from action could be on the chopping block.
