Why Jeronimo Cacciabue would be a future investment for Leeds United

As per Contrasena Futbol (h/t Burnley Express), Leeds United are in a battle to sign Newell’s Old Boys starlet Jeronimo Cacciabue in the summer.

Having risen through the ranks of Newell’s Old Boys’ youth system, Cacciabue, 22, made his debut in April 2018 for the senior side. After making four appearances in his debut season with the first-team, he went on to make 20 appearances in the following campaign. However, he could make just 8 league appearances this term before the league was called off.

One of the best young talents in his country, Cacciabue is highly rated and is seen as a player for the future. His impressive performances have also attracted the attention of Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, as per the report. Thus, Leeds United should make a move for him at the earliest.

Having sealed promotion, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa needs to bring in reinforcements to the squad if they are to sustain in the Premier League next season.

Most of the main players in the squad are on loan and making permanent signings would definitely do them a world of good in the future. Bielsa should now look to put together a formidable team for the future by investing in the youth this summer.

One key area the manager should focus on strengthening is the central midfield. At the moment, only four attack-minded midfielders are available at the manager’s disposal in Adam Forshaw, Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton and Jordan Stevens. However, only Forshaw and Klich have been regular starters.

Moreover, Forshaw has been out of action for the majority of the campaign due to injury and Klich is already 30 and reaching the rear end of his career. This leaves them with just Shackleton and Stevens for the future. Thus, bringing in a midfielder would definitely help them stock up the numbers for the future.

In that regard, Cacciabue would be a viable option for the club. The Argentine has impressed in the last couple of seasons for Newell’s Old Boys and has already shown immense potential. Though his numbers may not be among the best, he is capable of making it big in a few years time.

His inclusion would definitely add depth to the squad, whilst also bringing in healthy competition. And under the guidance of Bielsa, he could go on to become a crucial player for Leeds in the future if he develops well.
